Student-produced videos coming soon to Town of Warwick website

Whom would you entrust with portraying the best the Town of Warwick has to offer but those who have been growing and preparing for their futures, right here?

The four promotional videos were produced by teams of two students. The teams discussed their specific work before each screening.

Coming soon to the Town of Warwick website, four videos produced by Warwick Valley High School students in the Careers and Technology program will showcase what makes our town’s villages and hamlets a great place to visit, live, learn, work, start a business—and find community.

Video production students premiered the four promotional features for Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton on Friday, June 7, in the school’s video suite.

“This was our most in-depth project and a large undertaking,” said videographer Jeffrey Koff, a senior. “It’s a great feeling of accomplishment to be able to take what we learned in class and put it together into a project that will help the community.”

The early work, including interviews with local residents and business entities, began in the summer of 2018 and it’s been on Jeffrey’s mind, constantly.

“We talked to a lot of people, and I felt a deep sense of responsibility knowing that anyone who’s looking to visit or move to Warwick might be influenced by our work,” Jeffrey added.

But their hard work started paying off with the positive reception from Supervisor Sweeton.

“The work is fantastic,” Mr. Sweeton said. “They took the themes we wanted to highlight and added a personal and local flavor. This exceeds all our expectations, and it will be a great tool for us to showcase our very best and attract people to come here.”

Video production teacher Daniel Cecconie has added reasons to feel proud of his students’ accomplishments.

“I tell my students that what’s important is learning how to relate to people and connect with them as human beings,” Mr. Cecconie said. “It’s not about the technology. What we do is only important if we make it important.”
