WVHS announces Class of `22 valedictorian and salutatorian

April 27, 2022

Warwick Valley High School is proud to announce the Class of 2022 Valedictorian, Arden Hallett, and Salutatorian, Sarah Davis.

“It is a pleasure to award Arden and Sarah with the honors of being the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2022,” said WVHS Principal Marguerite Fusco. “These girls have exhibited consistent academic excellence throughout their four years of high school. They have challenged themselves with rigorous coursework and balanced exceptional extracurricular resumes with their studies. Arden and Sarah are humble, kind, and supportive of their peers. When they were told that they earned the distinguished honors of Valedictorian and Salutatorian, they immediately celebrated each other’s accomplishments. The entire Warwick Valley school community celebrates with them and we look forward to hearing about their future successes, as we know there will be many.”

Arden Hallett

Arden Hallett has achieved Summa Cum Laude Honor Roll status in each marking period this year, and did the same in every marking period last year. This year, the National Honor Society member was selected as a finalist in the 67th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program, placing her among just 15,000 students in America that represents less than one percent of all US high school seniors. Last year, Arden was bestowed New York State Scholar-Athlete status for maintaining an average of 90, or better, during her varsity athletic season. Arden has been an active member of Student Government throughout her time at WVHS, and has been active in extracurricular clubs including the leadership-building group Interact Club, sponsored by Warwick Valley Rotary.

Arden will be attending the University of Iowa in the fall, where she plans to study actuarial sciences. The university provides annual scholarships to National Merit Finalists, and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation also provides generous tuition assistance.

Sarah Davis

Sarah Davis has an overall academic average of 104.6, and the National Honor Society member has achieved Summa Cum Laude Honor Roll status for both of the first two marking periods this year, as well as all four marking periods last year. In 2021, Sarah received the Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award from the Parents Club of West Point, and the award for Outstanding Achievement & Ability in Mandarin Chinese. She also achieved New York State Scholar-Athlete status, maintaining her stellar GPA throughout her varsity season. This year, Sarah co-captained the WVHS Wildcats varsity girls basketball team, playing a pivotal role in the team’s advancement in the NYS championship tournament.

Sarah will be attending Michigan State University in the fall, where she will major in environmental biology, focusing on either conservation or plant science. Michigan State extended Sarah a full merit scholarship, including tuition, room and board, an annual stipend, and acceptance into the university’s prestigious Professorial Assistantship Program.
