WVMS Wildcats continue their new “My Jersey, Your Impact” campaign for week three

October 12, 2021

The WVMS Wildcats continued their new game day tradition on Tuesday morning, when two more students honored two more teachers as part of the modified football team’s My Jersey, Your Impact campaign.

Each gameday this season, eighth grade modified football players are honoring some of their favorite teachers, educators who have made a meaningful impact on them during their Middle School careers. This week, two more players said, “thank you for everything,” by handing over their jersey to be displayed in the teacher’s classroom leading up to game time.

Matthew Tully presented his #55 jersey to Ms. Tracey Waters.

“Ms. Waters has always supported me, and encouraged me to work hard. She’s just a great teacher and she’s always been there for me,” said Matt.

“And it’s Matt’s hard work that really shows,” added Ms. Waters. “He is in honors this year and he’s the class president. I’m so proud of him.”

Salvatore Spinelli presented his #5 jersey to Mr. Warren Patafio.

“Mr. Patafio — the best social studies teacher of all time,” said Matt. “He was my favorite teacher last year, he’s my favorite teacher this year, and he’s the teacher who got me into football to begin with.”

Check back next Tuesdays for another installment of My Jersey, Your Impact.
