business owner speaking with studentProfessionals from 31 local organizations gathered at the high school on April 6 to speak with students about careers in business, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), communications, the food industry, skilled trades, and health and human services.

Speaking with adults about how they found their career paths can help students understand the success and fulfillment that come from pursuing a career that matches one’s abilities and interests.

The WVHS Fifth Annual Career Fair was sponsored by the Warwick Foundation for Excellence in Learning (WFEL), the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce and ShopRite of Warwick.

WFEL’s mission is to enrich the educational environment for Warwick students, so career education has been a natural focus for the group.

“The Career Fair allows us to use the expertise of people in the community to expose students to a range of career options,” said Diane Rowe, a member of the WFEL Board of Directors. “We are so grateful to the generous professionals who volunteered their time and creativity, and shared their passion for their fields. They made this career fair an unqualified success and encouraged students to think more broadly about their own futures.”
