WVHS Senior Hannah Hamling commits to play volleyball for Georgetown
Warwick Valley High School Senior Hannah Hamling signed a National Letter of Commitment to play volleyball for Georgetown University in Washington, DC on April 16, 2018.
Coached at WVHS by Coach Kaitlin Rodriguez, Hannah was recruited by Georgetown University Head Coach, Toby Rens. Georgetown competes in the Big East Conference, along with Villanova, Creighton, Xavier and Butler.
Hannah also received interest from Harvard University, University of Pittsburgh, George Washington University and University of Pennsylvania.
A true student-athlete, Hannah plans to study Biomedical Engineering in college.
Career Highlights:
• Four Year Varsity Starter and Middle Hitter and senior Captain 2016 and 2017 Wildcats.
Leader in kills and blocks for the Division Champion Wildcats.
• 4-time Times Herald-Record Volleyball All-Star, NYSSWA “AA” Volleyball All-State Selection
• Plans to train in Finland with the Finnish National Team this summer
• Selected to USA Volleyball High Performance National Training Program and member of USA New York Travel Program
WVHS Academic Accomplishments:
• Grade Point Average of 104.1 – Ranked 5th out of 325 seniors (top 2 percent of her class)
• 4 Year NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete
• National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Interact Club, Model UN, Debate Club
• Academic schedule includes AP Calculus, AP Government, AP Biology and AP Literature
Hannah’s parents are Caroline Hamling (WVHS ’79) and David Hamling (WVHS ’77) of Warwick.
Her sister Luci is a 2009 Warwick graduate and nursing student at LIU, and her brother Cole is a 2007 Warwick grad, employed at Zircar Ceramics.
