WVHS music students earn All-State and Area All-State honors
Congratulations to WVHS student musicians Henry McKenna, Caitlyn Moran and Aiden Woods for being chose to perform at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) 2021-2022 All-State Festival in Rochester earlier this month.
Henry and Caitlyn were selected to the All-State Jazz Choir. Aiden, a saxophone player, was picked for the All-State Concert Band. Each year, thousands of student musicians in New York State compete for an opportunity to be selected for the NYSSMA Conference All-State Music ensembles.
Also, Isabelle Flores was selected to the All-State Jazz Choir and Eamon Comisky to the All-State Band on clarinet, but they were unable to attend the concert. In addition, WVHS had two students selected as All-State alternates: Timothy Leonard to the All-State Jazz Band on bass and Lionel Wolfe to the All-State Mixed Choir.
Congratulations also to the 20 WVHS students who were selected to the NYSSMA Area All-State music groups:
Selected for Area All-State Treble Choir were: Erin De La Mota, Isabelle Flores, Natalie Kitchin, Caitlyn Moran, Madeline Nokland and Annabelle Wadeson.
Selected for the Area All-State Mixed Choir were: Jojo Gagliano, Kyle Gutierrez, Noah Horowitz, Henry McKenna and Lionel Wolfe.
Selected for the Area All-State Orchestra were: Ashley Aronov, Amari Brown, Lilana King, Zoe Link, Timothy Leonard, Hunter Ludovicy and Sean Parkinson.
