WVHS holds Student Driving Forum

August 27, 2021

Juniors and seniors who are planning to drive to and park at Warwick Valley High School during the 2021-2022 school year attended the school’s Student Driving Forum on Wednesday, Aug. 25 in the Warwick Valley High School Auditorium.

The forum featured a presentation by Joel Feldman on the dangers of distracted driving. Feldman’s daughter Casey died after being hit by a distracted driver while walking across a street.

After the program, students picked up parking permit applications and signed a banner stating: “We won’t drive distracted and we won’t let our friends drive distracted.”

Parking permits will be available to all those that attended the forum in the High School Office.  Students should bring their completed application and copies of their valid driver’s license, insurance card, and registration between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Any students that were unable to attend the forum this week will be able to attend a make-up forum which will be held in the high school media center after school throughout the year.  The make-up forums will be conducted from 2:45 – 4:00 p.m. on the dates listed below:

  • September 14, 2021
  • November 4, 2021
  • February 3, 2022
  • April 7, 2022

All students that wish to drive to school at the start of the school year must obtain a parking permit.  In order to provide ample time to obtain a permit, students will have until September 17th to hand in their applications.  Beginning on September 20th, all student drivers must have a parking permit.
