The Warwick Valley High School Empty Bowls Club has received a generous award from Optimum Community’s Charity Champions program for its participation in this year’s program.

A check for $500 for the High School Club will be used as seed money for supplies and materials. A second check for $1000 for Warwick Valley Empty Bowls will be added to fundraising proceeds, and included in the funds given to specified local food pantries & food organizations after the main fundraising event.

The purpose and goals of Warwick Valley Empty Bowls are to raise money for six local organizations that provide food for an ever increasing number of students and families in our community, and to raise public awareness of hunger and food insecurity.

These programs provide food to students who attend Town of Warwick schools in Warwick, Greenwood Lake and Florida, and their families:

– Backpack Snack Attack – provides weekend meals program for students

– Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry

– Greenwood Lake Food Pantry

– Florida Food Pantry

– Warwick Community Kitchen in Pine Island offers free monthly dinners

– Pine Island Food Pantry at St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Warwick Valley Empty Bowls and the Warwick Valley High School Empty Bowls Club are grateful for the generous support of Optimum Community.
