WVCSD Superintendent note regarding media reports of “Creepy Clowns”

on October 7, 2016

Dear Warwick Valley Central School District Parents, Staff and Students:

You may be aware of media reports and social media posts about individuals, posing as “creepy clowns,” engaging in harassing or threatening behaviors in many areas of the country.

While our school district has not been the target of such threats, nor have there been reported related acts of violence in the region, please know that the District is working closely with the Warwick Police Department to increase police patrols in and around our schools. In addition, our building Principals and playground monitors are aware of the situation.

Moreover, be assured that we have made recent security enhancements in all our school buildings, and the District has a comprehensive safety plan in place should the need arise.

With that said, residents are strongly encouraged to report any suspicious persons or clown sightings to the Warwick Police Department.

The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.

David Leach
Superintendent of Schools
