WVCSD says thanks to Transportation and Buildings & Grounds with a barbecue

on June 17, 2016

Group at the staff appreciation barbecue. On June 17, WVCSD school administrators hosted a staff appreciation barbecue for the departments of Transportation and Buildings & Grounds.

At the grill were superintendent of schools Dr. David Leach on burgers, and Park Avenue school principal Sandra Wood on hot dogs – assisted by several other administrators.  Staff enjoyed lunching together under a big top set up on the lawn adjacent to the bus garage.

“It takes a team to educate a child. It’s important not to overlook any part of the team, which is easy to do. We wanted to recognize our Buildings & Grounds and Transportation staff. It is thanks to them that we can enjoy our beautiful facilities and get our students to school safely and on time,” Dr. Leach said.

Barbara Watch, a member of the Transportation Department for 26 years, and vice president of CSEA, was appreciative of the district’s gesture. “This is a class act, and it means a lot to all of us.”

“This is a great workforce, committed to the safety and smooth operation of the school community,” said Steven Salvato, director of Buildings & Grounds.  “This event gives everyone a chance to relax and enjoy each other’s company, and it’s also a unique opportunity to connect our staff with school administrators.”
