This annual event is designed to celebrate the talents, skills, creativity and ingenuity of Warwick students in grades K-12.

WVCSD STEAM Fair '17With much to see and experience, visitors enjoyed the evening walking around the high school, admiring artwork and painted chairs, examining STEM project displays, watching demonstrations, cheering newspaper dress fashion show models and listening to the music of the all-girl high school band that performed during the event.

Preparing for the STEAM Fair

The district STEAM Fair provides students with an opportunity to practice scientific thinking and problem solving through interactive, hands-on scientific investigations and inventions.

Prior to the event, Middle School STEAM Fair participants met with students from the high school WVCSD STEAM Fair '17Science Research class. The high school students served as mentors to the younger students, helping them develop ideas and prepare for the STEAM Fair.

In addition, parent-led demos during lunch periods the month before the STEAM Fair got students excited about the upcoming event. A group of Middle School parents treated students to demonstrations and interactive activities, such as seeing how much weight WVCSD STEAM Fair '17an egg can hold, examining how an EpiPen works and the art of origami.

Fair features student STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Project displays and demonstrations

K-12 Art Show

A colorful display of district-wide artwork by students in kindergarten through 12th grade featured creative work in a wide variety of media. Tables of art projects were also set up in the outdoor courtyard, off the high school lobby. The art display was sponsored by the WVCSD Art Department and the Warwick Art Club Boosters.

“Newspaper Dress” Fashion Show

WVHS Fashion Design students and their design partners paraded around the event modeling intricate outfits they constructed from newspaper, a project that focused on creativity in recycling and reusing materials.

The popular Chair Auction fundraiser

For this 8th annual Chair Auction, WVHS art students took ordinary chairs and, over the course of several months, transformed them into works of art.

The chairs were painted or decorated in the style of an art movement, a particular artist or technique. The junior and senior art portfolio class and other juniors and seniors, as well as art department faculty members, participated in the event.

The 20+ chairs ranged in style and technique, with Harley Davidson, I Love Lucy, Marilyn Monroe, Mosaic and Viking just a few of the themes.

At the end of the evening, the chairs were auctioned off to the public, with proceeds going to scholarships for graduating WVHS seniors who plan to study art in college.

A fun evening for all

The talent-filled evening included music by the all-girl student rock band, Conspiracy, and delicious food for sale from local vendors. The creative displays, large crowd and festive atmosphere made for a fun evening of student creativity!
