Wildcats girls varsity team advances in state hoops tourney

The Wildcats Girls Varsity Basketball team defeated Roy C. Ketcham High School by a score of 46-40 last night in the regional semifinal round of the 2022 NYSPHSAA Girls Basketball Championship.

Senior Sarah Davis scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Junior Paige Girardi scored 11 points and had six rebounds, while Megan Desrats, also a junior, added another 10 points. Senior Lindsay Evans scored two points and had nine rebounds.   

Clutch playing by the Wildcats in the final minutes was enough to overcome a late rally by Ketcham that tied the game. One of Megan Desrats’ 3-pointers on the night immediately put the Wildcats back in control on the next possession.

With the win, the Wildcats move on to face Corning-Painted Post in the regional semifinal on Sunday in Binghamton.
