Community Service Requirement

Community Service Requirement

A core belief of the Warwick Valley Central School District is preparing students to be ethical and global citizens.  This starts with serving our local community.

Students at Warwick Valley High School are required to serve their community by volunteering their time and talent to assist those in need.

Students start this when they enter Warwick Valley High School as a Freshman and must complete the required number of hours by the end of the third marking period of their senior year.

Due to COVID restrictions, this requirement has been waived for the Class of 2022 and has been adjusted as follows:

  • Class of 2023 – minimum of 10 hours
  • Class of 2024 – minimum of 15 hours
  • Class of 2025 and beyond – minimum of 20 hours
Students are recognized for going above and beyond with the Principal’s Award for 50 or more hours of community service and the Superintendent’s Award for 100 or more hours.

Opportunities will be made available and assistance provided to students to complete this requirement in a variety of settings.
