Warwick Valley High School – Positive COVID-19 Case (UPDATE)

October 21, 2020

Dear Warwick Valley CSD Families,

Earlier today, I shared with the school community that an employee tested positive for COVID-19, and no further action was needed.  Since this communication, the District has received additional information, and subsequently, new guidance about this case.  We later learned that the infected employee was at the high school for one day during his/her infectious period.

Upon receiving this new information and closely reviewing it with the Orange County Department of Health, the District was instructed to take the precautionary measure to quarantine one additional staff member. Working along with the OCDOH, considerable time and measures were taken to confirm that no other staff or student was in direct or proximate contact with the employee during the infectious period.

Again, in consultation with the OCDOH, the high school will remain open.

Working together, we will be able to continue in-person learning in a safe and healthy environment.

Sincerely,

David Leach
