September 25, 2016

Carl & Christopher Fischer are the first pair of brothers to be appointed to the prestigious position of Regimental Commander in the 142 year history of SUNY Maritime College.

From the Warwick Valley Dispatch:

Candidates for Regimental Commander must attain both academic and regimental excellence over the course of their time at the school and once appointed, the Regimental Commander is responsible for the daily operations and events for a population of approximately 1,300 cadets, making it the highest cadet-held position.

Carl, who achieved this honor in 2012, graduated from SUNY Maritime in 2013 with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in facilities engineering and earned the United States Coast Guard Third Assistant Engineer License. He is currently a consultant engineer for FM Global/New York Operation, located in Parsippany, NJ.

Christopher began his Maritime career in the fall of 2012 and held various positions within the regiment before being selected as Regimental Commander in 2016. He will be graduating in January 2017 upon completion of the United States Coast Guard exam, which is a requirement to obtain his Third Assistant Marine Engineer License.
