Warwick Crew excels at Scholastic Rowing State Championships in Saratoga

Congratulations to Warwick Valley High School’s Crew team!

On May 14 and 15, the Warwick Crew rowing team competed at the New York State Championships in Saratoga. Warwick Crew entered nine events and qualified for finals in all.

They did very well at this extremely competitive annual event, with three 3rd place boats and one gold medal boat!

• The Novice Girls 4 boat of Kelly Hennessy, Kaylee Oelofse, Josie Romano and Caleigh Rubin, coxed by Abby Houseberg, finished first on Saturday.

• The team’s Novice Boys 4 boat of Brendan Hallinan, Matt Negersmith, Matt Rapelye and Caleb Manheim, coxed by Zack Bauman, came in third.

• The Varsity Girls Pair of Kira Poulson and Annie Demetroules also placed third.

On Sunday, the Warwick Crew’s Boys Lightweight Quad of Rob Keane, Jacob Gaydos, Kyle Bower and Ben Zakzewski finished third, as well.
