Virtual parenting workshop on “Building Resilient Families”
In partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension, Warwick Valley Central School District will be hosting a virtual parent workshop on Wednesday, October 28th from 7-8:30 PM. The workshop is entitled “Building Resilient Families”. This experiential workshop is designed to meet the needs of parents, caregivers and teachers of children of all ages.
Most would agree, all children should be able to grow up in perfect conditions and we want our children to be able to thrive! Through one of the largest studies ever done in the U.S. called Adverse Childhood Experience Study (ACE Study), we learn that too much stress in childhood can be harmful for our long-term health and well-being.
In this workshop, you will learn how you can help buffer the effects of some of the stress that children experience. You will learn about practical, everyday life strategies that will help support children in order for them to thrive. Some strategies include:
- Resiliency skills
- Supporting social and emotional development in children
- Identifying resources and networks for individuals and families
Cornell Cooperative Extension will be presenting this workshop virtually through Zoom and there is a $10 fee per family.
