Welcome to Warwick Valley Middle School’s monthly newscast!

Hello Warwick Valley Middle School! My name is Xitlaly Torreblanca-Figueroa and I am a 7th grader at Warwick Valley Middle School.  Welcome to our first newscast of 2019! We have gotten through the new year going with a great start! During the first few of the weeks this year, 7th and 8th grade students talked with School Resource Officer, Dave Serviss the importance of being cyber-safe. We talked about our digital footprints, being smart while using Social Media and how to be good cyber-citizens.

Hi I am Salemah Brown, a 5th grader at Warwick Valley Middle School. In the spirit of the holiday season we have been able to celebrate all of our Middle School musicians with two separate concert nights. Our 7th and 8th grade preformed on Thursday, December 13th. Our 5th and 6th graders performed on Tuesday, December 18th. Our talented musicians performed Holiday classics. Many described the atmosphere as better than a rock concert.  Warwick really does have some of the most talented musicians and singers in the world.

Hello, my name is Sahony Flowers and I’m at 6th grader in the middle school. In PE class and throughout our day, we have been practicing Mindfulness as a way to refocus and re-center.  Mindfulness is a way to focus on the moment and reduce anxiety through a focus on our breath.  I know that many of my peers have begun to use it before tests, difficult conversations, and as a way to take a moment for ourselves.

Hey everyone, my name is Declan McCurdy, and I am an 8th grader at Warwick Valley Middle School.  There are a lot of great events in the coming months that we are all looking forward to.  Each grade has a field trip planned.  In May and June, 5th Grade is going on a Rip Van Winkle Cruise at the Hudson River Maritime Museum. 6th grade will spend a day at the Liberty Science Center, and 7th grade will have a great time at our annual Bronx Zoo trip. For the first time, 8th grade will attend the Bethel Woods Museum just in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock music festival.  Here’s to a great month and a great 2019!
