View the Middle School April video newsletter!

on April 9, 2018

All are invited to view the Warwick Valley Middle School monthly newsletter.

In a creative collaboration with the WVHS Cosmetology and Communications programs, the newsletter has been produced as a video newscast for your viewing enjoyment!

Before filming, HS students in the Cosmetology program prepared the MS student newscasters for the camera with hair styling and makeup.

Each month, a different group of students will record MS news in the high school video production area.

Hello Warwick Valley, I’m Evan Grundfast, a fifth grader at the middle school. Recently, our district had eight teams compete in Odyssey of the Mind. Seven of those teams have moved on to the state competition, and we want to wish the teams good luck on this journey! Our fifth grade class had the chance to participate in Document Detectives, an activity provided by the Warwick Historical Society. As a participant, we were asked to decipher clues about Warwick’s past. Using timelines and references, my peers and I had to find the date of when historical pictures were taken. This was an exciting activity that informed the fifth grade about the history of Warwick.

Hi, I’m Jazleen Alagh and I am a 7th Grader at Warwick Valley Middle School. On Monday, March 12, our Saxophone Quintet and Wind Instrument performance groups played for the Board of Education. We played Mozart’s ”Eine Kleine Nachtmusik,” which was an exhilarating experience. During the week of March 5, we celebrated Foreign Language Week. Guest speakers presented their stories of immigrating to the United States and explained the culture of their native country. The week culminated in a food festival where 7th and 8th graders were treated to delicious samplings from around the world.

Hi! My name is Kyle Gutierrez, an 8th grader at Warwick Valley Middle School. The week of March 12 featured our annual book fair! Students were invited to purchase interesting books and small gifts throughout the week. The proceeds of the fair went to our PTA, who provides so many wonderful additions to our school community. Recently, varsity athletes from the High School came down to talk with our 8th graders about leading positive, healthy lifestyles, encouraged making good choices and avoiding substance abuse. It was great connecting with the High Schoolers, especially as we begin thinking about the journey across the parking lot next year.
