Superintendent Update # 7: Supporting Our Community – March 18, 2020
Dear Members of the Warwick Valley CSD Community,
As our school district buildings remain in a state of closure through April 13, 2020, we would like to provide you with an update about the District’s plans to further support our community during this difficult time.
Continuing Meal Service
The District would like to thank all of the volunteers who have graciously given their time to help with the District effort to provide meals to families. Currently, our Food Service Department headed by Lois Radon and Julie Helmrich, in conjunction with the Community Backpack Snack Attack program, led by Jenna Price, is providing meals to approximately 175 students in need. Additionally, breakfasts and lunches are available to any family experiencing hardship. Meals are prepared at the High School in the District’s kitchens, and are delivered by a rotating fleet of volunteers throughout our community. Beginning on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, all food packages will be delivered to families; to promote social distancing, Park Avenue will no longer serve as a pickup point. Should you need the assistance of this program, contact the office by email: lradon@wvcsd.org or jhelmrich@wvcsd.org . You may also call (845) 987-3050 x 12890/12895 if you are interested in participating. Please leave a message if no one is available to take your call. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Food Service Office.
First Responders and Health Providers
I thank our first responders for their service in this time of crisis. We must ensure our families/caregivers who function as first responders or health care providers have childcare supports in place. The District is working with community partners to provide childcare to our families of first responders and health providers. If first responders or health providers need childcare, we would ask that you click here to fill out a brief survey. Eligible healthcare professionals include: licensed health professionals such as physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, LPNs, and nurse assistants, or laboratory personnel. First responders may include: paramedics, emergency medical technicians, police officers, and firefighters.
