Superintendent Update #10 – March 31, 2020

March 31, 2020

Dear Members of the Warwick Valley CSD Community,

Pursuant to Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.11, the NYS Education Department provided the following direction: “Districts must continue to provide remote instruction for students… between April 1, 2020, and April 14, 2020, even if the district is scheduled to be on spring break during that time.”

Therefore, WVCSD has amended its 2019 – 2020 school calendar to comply with all Executive Orders issued by the Governor of the State of New York. Thus, April 6 through April 13, and May 22, have been converted into instructional days to remain on track to receive full New York State aid allotments.

Next week, rather than primarily teaching new content, teachers will provide students the opportunity to complete classwork, and seek guidance about concepts already taught. This approach should be reassuring to families and students as they adjust to distance learning. Beginning April 14, we will resume with our current delivery of instruction.

Thank you for your continued flexibility, responsiveness, and understanding during these challenging times.

 Sincerely,

David Leach
