Student Athlete of the Week-Alanna Garner

Warwick High School is proud to recognize senior Alanna Garner as this weeks’ Bill Garcia Agency ALLSTATE Student-Athlete of the Week.  Alanna is a 2-year member of the varsity football team and a 3-year track athlete, specializing in throwing events.  Alanna’s positive attitude is contagious and is a model teammate, respected by all.  Alanna participates in the Treble Choir and is a member of the National Honor Society, Interact Club and a recipient of the Sojourner Truth Award given for excellence and perseverance.      

Alanna is an outstanding student maintaining a 94.1 cumulative grade point average.  Her classes include Advanced Placement courses for college credit in Government, Biology, Literature, University Spanish, OCCC Algebra and OCCC Trigonometry.  Alanna has received acceptance to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Temple University, Penn State and Albany. She plans to pursue a career in the medical field.  Alanna is the daughter of Tamar and Pascall Garner of Sugar Loaf, New York.  She has 4 younger brothers’; Amari (4 years old), Aaron (1st Grade Park Ave), Andon (3rd Grade Park Ave), Asa (7th Grade Warwick MS) and sister Alyese (Sophomore Warwick HS).  All five siblings follow her example and are up and coming Wildcats.  Warwick HS is proud to recognize Alanna Garner as this week’s Bill Garcia ALLSTATE Insurance Student-Athlete of the Week.    

 

 

 

Warwick Valley High School is proud to select senior Jeremy Mazzella as this week’s Bill Garcia ALLSTATE Student-Athlete of the Week. Jeremy, the team’s captain, has wrestled his way to an individual record of 16 – 3 this season at 182 lbs. This two-sport standout (wrestling and track) paced the Wildcats to outstanding showings at the New Paltz, Newburgh, and Wildcat Dual Meets finishing 14 – 1 as a team and 14 – 1 individually. Warwick wrestling will be home January 15th for a “Senior Night” match vs. Kingston.
Jeremy maintains a challenging course load that includes Honors French, Robotics and Engineering, and Statistics. Upon graduation, Jeremy plans to study physical education and wrestle in college. He has narrowed his college choices to Cortland, Brockport, or East Stroudsburg University. Jeremy is the son of Melissa and Scott Mazzella of Warwick, New York. His father Scott was a standout football and track athlete at Warwick HS (Class of 1986). Jeremy’s sister Ashlee attends SUNY at Oneonta, and his brother Jack (Class of 2022) is a rising student-athlete in Wildcat Country.
