Seventh-grade writing contest winners announced

on March 24, 2015

After Debra Leporati’s seventh grade students finished reading My Brother Sam Is Dead, a story that takes place during the American Revolutionary War, the students enjoyed a visit from Mary Ann Knight of the Warwick Historical Society, who spoke to the students about local history.

To build on the experiences of reading My Brother Sam is Dead, and learning about local history during Revolutionary War times, Mrs. Leporati’s class participated in a short story writing contest, which Mrs. Knight agreed to judge.

Students wrote an historical fiction story set in Warwick during the Revolutionary War period. Mrs. Knight awarded special prizes to the winners.
