Warwick Valley Middle School crowns spelling bee champs

During two school-wide grade level spelling bees this week, Warwick Valley Middle School crowned two spelling champions who will move on to represent the middle school at the regional level of the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition!

Leading up to this week's competition, middle school ELA classrooms held individual, smaller spelling bees. The winner from each class advanced to the schoolwide event, which was held in the cafetorium and attended by fellow students. The support the spellers received from their peers was incredible, evident in their enthusiastic cheering and the handmade signs they brought.

There was some clear ELA skills on display, and both the 7th and 8th grade bees went into multiple rounds! The 7th grade bee came down to a head-to-head spell-off between Molly Brady and Jospeh Parisi, while Rex Heymer and Jack Fiore vied it out for the 8th grade title.

Congratulations to Molly and Rex! They will both be headed to O-U BOCES in March for the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee!
