The Warwick Valley Wildcats modified football team won its game against Newburgh in convincing fashion on Tuesday night. They also continued their My Jersey, Your Impact gameday campaign for Week 3 of the season! This week, three more members of the modified Wildcats football team presented their jerseys to teachers who have made significant impacts on their middle school experiences.

You can also read the Week 1 and Week 2 stories to see who's been honored this season!

Selected teachers are invited to display the jersey outside of their classrooms on game day, symbolizing the bond between students and teachers, and the connection between academics and athletics. The tradition has become a great way to show off Wildcat spirit, while also reinforcing the value of mentorship and gratitude within the school community. Here this week's Wildcat players and honorees!

Leo Nicosia, #14 (pictured above and below)
Leo is a returning eighth grader and the starting wide receiver and safety for the Wildcats purple team. Leo is known for running excellent routes, and bringing explosive speed and great hands to both offense and defense. Leo is also terrific basketball player! Leo presented his jersey to his seventh grade social studies teacher, William Zwart. Leo said Mr. Zwart always made class fun and always had the best jokes. Mr. Zwart decided to go with the often-suggested-but-rarely-accepted My Jersey, Your Impact option to WEAR the jersey! If only it had "Pancake Boy" or "leo" (in all lowercase letters) printed above the number... IYKYK!

Declan Hennessey-Coyle, #50
Declan, a returning eighth grader, is the starting center for the purple team, one of the most important roles on the field. Declan brings size and toughness to the offensive line. Declan presented his jersey to his seventh grade study hall teacher and eighth grade skills teacher, Catherine King. He said Ms. King always helped him stay up to date with his school work, and was always funny. Declan said every student who interacts with Ms. King can vouch that she is the greatest; that she looks out for all of her kids and builds lasting relationships with everyone. "Every student needs a teacher like Ms. King in their corner!"

Emerson Pouliot, #66
Emerson is a starting right tackle for the Wildcats purple team. Emerson always shows up and works hard, and he brings great size and strength to the line. Emerson presented his jersey to Kristin Cronk, his seventh grade math teacher. Emerson appreciates the guidance that Ms. Cronk would provide, especially all of the the extra help she gave him during lunch. Emerson says Ms. Cronk was his favorite math teacher of all time!
