Thomas Maiorama and Keene Eicher at the Humanities Honoree Breakfast.

Congratulations to Warwick Valley High School students Keene Eicher and Thomas Maiorana, who were recognized at the 2026 Humanities Honoree Awards Ceremony & Breakfast, hosted by Orange-Ulster BOCES at the Otterkill Country Club.

The annual event celebrates seniors and juniors who are standouts among their schools' arts and humanities programs. Two students from O-U BOCES programs and two students from each O-U region high school were chosen for the award. The students were joined by their families, teachers and administrators to enjoy breakfast and the ceremony at Otterkill.

Keene Eicher
Keene is an accomplished and skilled artist. He has developed sophisticated technical skills in pen and ink and digital illustration, earning two Scholastic Gold Keys and two Silver Keys for his mastery of shading, texture, and value. Keene is a prominent leader within the school community, serving as the president of the tabletop gaming club and an active member of the art club, where he spearheaded the $1,000 grand-prize-winning pumpkin carving and installation display at Crystal Springs Grand Cascade Lodge.

His artwork has earned professional recognition beyond the classroom, having been selected for exhibition at both the Galleria Mall and SUNY New Paltz. Keene plans to pursue a degree in commercial design illustration at a four-year art and design school. He would be excited to attend Pratt, Rhode Island School of Design, School of Visual Arts, or Savannah College of Art Design.

Thomas Maiorana
Thomas is a talented musician. He has been studying piano since the age of seven and has developed strong skills as both a soloist and a collaborative musician. Thomas regularly accompanies the choirs for concerts and performs with the jazz band, where he also doubles on saxophone.

He is an active and dedicated member of the wind ensemble and the Meistersingers, singing as a tenor 1. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Thomas is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys camping and hiking. His passion, versatility, and commitment to his craft make him a valued member of his school’s music community. After high school, Thomas plans to pursue music performance with a focus on piano.
