WVHS students earn silver at National SkillsUSA video production competition
Congratulations to Warwick Valley High School students William Boller and Clyde Demke, who brought home the silver medal in video production at the National SkillsUSA competition in Atlanta on June 27!
Representing both WVHS and NYS SkillsUSA, William and Clyde competed against top student teams across the country in a fast-paced, multi-day challenge centered around the prompt: “How is AI Technology Improving Industries?”
After orientation and an inspiring opening ceremony – featuring guest speaker Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs and Deadliest Catch – the students took a special industry knowledge exam then began scripting, shooting and editing their video.
Their hard work paid off at the closing ceremony, where they were informed that they finished second nationally in front of a crowd of over 18,000 at State Farm Arena.
“Being an SkillsUSA advisor for these two young men is an honor,” Dan Cecconie, WVHS Video Production teacher, said. “Their work ethic, ability to serve the needs of others and internal creativity are a testament to their embodiment of a Portrait of a Graduate.”
