WVHS music department presents 2025 Spring Band Concert

Warwick Valley High School students perform during the Spring Band Concert in the high school auditorium.

The Warwick Valley High School Music Department presented its 2025 Spring Band Concert this week, featuring performances by the high school's Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble under the direction of WVHS music teacher Megan Shafer.

2025 Spring Band Concert Program

Jazz Band

Congratulations to our Class of 2025 band members!

Michael Aloia plays the trumpet and has been a part of concert band for three years, and wind ensemble for his senior year. He will be attending the University of Connecticut and will be studying mechanical engineering with a minor in Spanish.

Danny Castillo plays the clarinet and has played in both concert band and wind ensemble. He will be attending New York University to major in biochemistry.

Zoe Dimartino plays the clarinet and has been a part of the concert band for four years.  She will be attending Marist University in the fall and is majoring in Elementary Education and Special Education.  

Owen Durgin plays percussion for the Warwick Valley Wind Ensemble. He has also played the piano since 1st grade. Owen is “coming in hot” to college life, studying Computer Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a minor in music. First we Wind, then we Ensemble!

Zack Felker plays percussion and has been a part of the concert band for four years. He will be attending Syracuse University majoring in Health Humanities. Zack would like to thank Ms. Shafer and his family for encouraging him throughout his time in the  band and high school. 

Collin Freet has played euphonium all four years in Wind Ensemble. He will be attending Lehigh University to major in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Aerospace. 

Holly Frischknecht has played the flute since the 4th grade, and has been part of the Wind Ensemble for two years. She has participated in both the Hudson Valley Honor Band and NYSSMA. She will be attending Stony Brook University to major in Astronomy and Physics as a University Scholar.

Asa Garner plays the clarinet and bass clarinet, and have been a part of concert band for all four years I've been in. I will be attending Suny New Paltz to major in adolescence mathematics education. 

Anthony Gomez is a flute in the Warwick Valley Wind Ensemble, and is saddened to leave his high school. He has played in the Hudson Valley Honors Band, various All-Counties, and the Monroe Summer Music Institute. Outside of band, Anthony sings with the Meistersingers, and various other choir groups. Anthony’s future plans include college at The Crane School of Music, at SUNY Potsdam.

Lisandra Gurda has played Flute for four years in high school Concert Band. I plan to study Nursing at Mount Saint Mary College in the future.

Dexter Hudspeth plays the alto saxophone in concert band. He is attending Buffalo State for political science.

Brady Judd plays the trumpet in the wind ensemble for four years now. He also has taken piano lessons for eleven years. He will be attending the University of Delaware next year to major in finance.

Shiwoo Lee plays the clarinet and has participated for four years in Wind Ensemble, All-County Band Festivals, and the NYSSMA Area All-State Festival. He will be attending the United States Merchant Marine Academy to study Marine Engineering and commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Asher Morgenstern plays the baritone saxophone in both Wind Ensemble and Jazz band. I will be continuing making music in the jazz band at SUNY Geneseo.

Angie Ortiz plays the flute and has been a part of concert band for four years. She was elected Concert Band president this year and has participated in NYSSMA. In the fall, Angie will attend Cornell University to major in Plant Science.

Anthony Peconie plays the alto saxophone and has been a part of Wind Ensemble for three years and jazz band for four years. He has participated in the Hudson Valley Honors Band program and NYSSMA. He will be attending Villanova to major in mechanical engineering and will continue to play in the Villanova Bands program.  

Holly Purta plays the saxophone and was a member of the concert band for two years until she moved up to the wind ensemble.  She has also been a member of the jazz band for three years and has participated in Hudson Valley Honors Band and NYSSMA.  She will be attending Keuka College to major in nursing.  

Angelika Quadrino Jelly plays the tuba and has been a part of the wind ensemble for four years. She will be attending Ramapo College of New Jersey to major in biology and play basketball. 

Allie Ross plays the flute and has been a part of wind ensemble for three years. She has participated in the Hudson Valley Honors Band. She will be attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst to major in pre-veterinary science. 

Maggy Smith plays the flute & saxophone. She has been a part of concert band for four years. She will be attending Centenary University to major in Equine Assisted Services.

Rachel Venter plays the flute in Concert Band for the past four years. She plans on going to the University of North Carolina Charlotte for track and field with a major in exercise science and a minor in entrepreneurship.
