New WVHS club uses creativity to combat stress

Warwick Valley High School students recently formed a club to help relieve stresses through creative hands-on activities.

The Creative Calm Club meets every other Friday during unit lunch. The first activity was creating slime by mixing glue, activator, shaving cream, food coloring, and glitter. The second activity was scrapbooking.

‘At each meeting, we introduce an activity and explain how it can relieve stress,” club secretary Hannah Thomas said. “After a brief presentation, we provide supplies to complete the activity during the period. We have had two meetings so far, and it has been a huge success! We hope to continue to meet this school year and help students at Warwick feel more calm in a creative way! “

The club is run by presidents Breeana Saritson and Bella Dudhnath-Tacardon.

A message displayed during the meeting read:

“We know school can be tough in many ways, but we hope that our club can help you end the week on a good note and start the weekend right. We also hope that our club can bring everyone together and possibly make new friends! We know mental health is important and we hope our club can help yours.”
