Wildcat pride in bloom: Floral Design students get creative for Homecoming

Warwick Valley  High School students in Ms. Baker's Floral Design class have been creating arrangements for their first clients - the Homecoming Committee! Each fall, the floral design class creates Wildcat-inspired purple and gold flower arrangements  to be displayed at the judges station at the homecoming parade.

Using  local pumpkins donated from Paul Ruszkiewicz, a long time supporter of the Warwick Agriculture program, and a variety of flowers, students worked together to create seasonal designs that show off Wildcat pride! 

With only introductory instruction on the principles of design, students developed aesthetic and well-balanced designs with appropriate proportions and colors. Ms. Baker said her students did a great job, especially considering they had only been in the class for a few weeks and these were their first designs.

The Agriculture Technology department at WVHS provides students with hands-on learning opportunities that build both career and leadership skills. Real-world projects like this one give students the chance to work with clients, practice specialized techniques, and see their efforts shared with the community.

The Floral Design class is excited for the Warwick community to enjoy their seasonal creations at Homecoming — a true celebration of Wildcat pride in full bloom!
