This past weekend, Warwick Valley High School FFA Club showcased its talent and dedication at the 101st New York FFA State Convention, held in Buffalo.

The event drew over 2,000 FFA members from all corners of the state and featured more than 30 competitive events, leadership workshops, and educational tours, making it the largest annual gathering for agricultural youth in New York.

Warwick Valley sent two teams to the competition: the Senior Quiz Bowl team and the Floriculture team. The Senior Quiz Bowl team, comprised of Alexander Cardenas, Kylie Frey, Kellen Stack, and Brielle Walker, demonstrated impressive knowledge of New York agriculture, FFA history, and related topics. Out of 70 teams from across New York, the team advanced to the fourth round, placing in the top 16—an outstanding achievement for this dedicated group.

The Floriculture team, featuring Carla Agreda Jimenez, Aubrie Andryshak, Madeline Hunt, and Levi Keglovitz, excelled in both the individual and team portions of the competition. After placing in the top 10 individually, the team came together for a collaborative challenge, applying design principles and sustainable floriculture practices. Hard work paid off—the team earned 2nd Place out of 68 teams! This strong finish qualified the team for the prestigious Eastern Regional competition at The Big E in the fall, where they will represent New York among the best in the Northeast.

In addition to the competitions, students participated in leadership workshops, toured the NY Power Authority, and explored career and college options at the state’s largest agricultural expo. These experiences provided valuable insight and inspiration, further strengthening students’ commitment to agricultural education and leadership.

"This was a great experience for these young agriculturalists," said WVHS agricultural educator Talia Baker. "We can't wait to see where they go next!"

Warwick Valley is incredibly proud of all FFA members for their teamwork, passion for agriculture, and for representing our school and community with distinction. Congratulations to all FFA students—your achievements make Warwick Valley proud.
