SkillsUSA team brings back three medals, great memories from state competition

The Warwick Valley High School SkillsUSA team did a great job at the 2026 NYS SkillsUSA Leadership & Skills Championships last week (April 22-24) at the state fairground in Syracuse!
The Wildcat contingent was part of the 3,000+ students who converged on the fairgrounds from various SkillsUSA areas across the state (we're Area IV) to compete in technical, skilled, and leadership events related to Career & Technology Education. This year, Warwick Valley team competed in the following categories: Digital Cinema, Television Production, 3 Axis Milling, Criminal Justice, Crime Scene Investigation, Cosmetology, and the Criminal Justice Quiz Bowl.
Overall, Warwick Valley brought home three medals! Here's how things shaped up for our Wariwck Valley competitors.
Digital Cinema: Gold Medal

Typically, Gold Medal winners advance to the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference, which takes place this year on June 1-5 in Atlanta. The Digital Cinema team of Samantha and Elijah will be headed to the competition.
"Unfortunately," said WVHS teacher and SkillsUSA advisor Dan Cecconie, "the Criminal Justice Quiz Bowl does not happen at the national level. However, our Digital Cinema team kicks off its campaign for nationals this Wednesday with an orientation."
The team will also receive a "film prompt" from SkillsUSA to guide their production on May 7. Their original film must be completed and submitted on Monday, May 18!
