2025 Senior Project students present their unique work during adjudicated boards
Twenty-three WVHS seniors presented their 2025 Senior Project research and results during adjudicated sessions on Monday night, wrapping up an exciting and ambitious year of hard work, discovery and accomplishment. During 15-minute sessions, each student posited their core ideas, presented their findings, and fielded question from the panelists, which is a lot like the process of defending a thesis for an advanced degree.

Once again, this year's equally ambitious and impressive projects wowed the judges, who were a mix of district administration, faculty, and Warwick community members. Just to give you an idea of the breadth of subject matter and learning that Senior Project encourages and enables, the panelists got to read from three original books, they picked up some conversational Greek, checked out accurate hand-drawn scientific illustrations, heard a hand built guitar, tasted (not one, but) two delicious cakes, while also learning what toxic plants not to eat, and so much more!
The 23 students will reconvene on Friday evening for a banquet in the high school atrium, followed by the official culmination of Senior Project, the sashing ceremony in the auditorium, which will be hosted by Senior Project advisors Jeanine Fogler and Nick DiLeo.

More about Senior Project
Warwick Valley High School's nationally recognized Senior Project program has evolved over nearly two decades as one of the most unique, and popular, independent study opportunities the district provides. It is a rigorous program that combines project-based learning, real-world research, professional networking, and hands-on work. Senior Project delivers overall experience that helps students develop skills that are invaluable as they graduate into today’s increasingly connected, global community. Each Senior Project student must complete four key components, known as the Four Ps.
-
The Project
The subject that each student chooses to study, along with the goals they set to accomplish with their mentor. - The Paper
A collegiate-level paper, seven to 10 pages in length, on their topic, which presents the students’ knowledge of their topic, including findings and outcomes. - The Portfolio
This piece chronicles each student’s process, including documentation, correspondences, photos, and anything else related to the project. - The Presentation
Students give an oral presentation on their topic and outcomes to a panel of judges drawn from the District and the community.
