WVHS Interact Club makes its donation to WV Humane Society
The Warwick Valley High School Interact Club recently led a successful animal welfare and adoption awareness campaign. In March, club members set up an informational table in the lobby during lunch for several days. Their goal was to reach as many classmates, faculty, and staff as possible with an outreach effort on behalf of the Warwick Valley Humane Society.
You can read a little more about their March initiative here. The Interact crew distributed information about animals needing homes and educated their peers about the Humane Society's mission. On Tuesday, the Interact Club welcomed representatives from the Humane Society to present them with a $500 check for the funds they raised.
Suzyn Barron, President of the Warwick Valley Humane Society, accepted the check, noting that April is Prevention of Animal Cruelty month.
“This donation couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Ms. Barron, who said the funds will be put towards the shelter's Princess Fund, which specifically assists victims of animal cruelty, neglect, and abandonment. The contribution will help provide essential medical, grooming, and emotional support to animals in their care.
“We don’t look at this fund as something sad,” Ms. Barron emphasized. “The animals who benefit from it all have a better chance at a happy life.”
WVHS teacher and Interact Club advisor Jeanine Fogler extended a special thank you to her Interact Club Officers Caroline Rourke, Jessica Bell, Angelina Foschini, Lucia Meehan, and Josephine Tuckfelt for their efforts on this project.
