Sanfordville celebrates end of year with PIE Water Day and SES Field Day [GALLERY]

The students at Sanfordville Elementary School have been celebrating the end of a successful school year with some annual outdoor excitement: PIE Water Day and SES Field Day! 

The weather was fittingly summery last Friday, as the PIE program took to the areas surrounding the PIE garden for its Water Day festivities. The students soaked up the sun and got soaked during all kinds of splashtastic activities -- a water balloon toss, a sponge relay race, and a dunk tank. At other stations there was bubble blwoing, rubber duck races, and a neverending foam party. They even learned how to make music with water!

And on Tuesday, the school divided into teams for the SES Field Day, with events situated on all sides of the school, including IN-side! There was an ongoiing dance party with choreographed group dances like The Chicken Dance and the YMCA! Next to that, a set of cones marked course for bean bag relay races. In the bus lot, students played a series of games built around life-size board game graphics laid out on the ground. In front of the school, an ice cream truck served up treats as students lined one classroom at a time.

You might think the ice cream was everyone's favorite part of field day. Close... but you would be mistaken. On the grass near the PIE garden was the most popular event station of them all. One that, without fail, made every team that cycled through the activity erupt into enthusiastic cheers: the good old gym parachute!
