Sanfordville kindergartners wow friends and family with animal research presentations
Kindergartners in Melissa Loubier’s class at Sanfordville Elementary School showcased their animal research projects to family and friends during a special classroom celebration.
Students collaborated in groups, selecting one animal and conducting research using nonfiction resources such as books, educational videos and other online tools. They explored key questions:
- What type of animal is it?
- Where does it live?
- What does it look like?
- What does it eat?
- What can it do?
- And what are some fun facts?
The students shared interesting findings about tigers, sharks, cheetahs and penguins. Each group uncovered unique details about their animal, including how penguins keep their eggs nestled between their legs, and what a baby shark is called – a pup!
Every group member contributed original writing and artwork to vibrant poster boards, demonstrating their skills in sketching, “three-star” coloring and sentence writing.
“This project really showcases how far these kindergartners have come in 10 months!” Ms. Loubier said. “I couldn’t be more proud of their ability to collaborate toward a common goal and present their learning to families.”
The celebration concluded with snacks, certificates and smiles all around as students showed that it’s never too early to become an expert in something.
