Congratulations to the Sanfordville Elementary School Drama Club for its outstanding production of Disney's Winnie the Pooh Kids last weekend.

Co-directed by Sanfordville teachers and SES Drama Club advisors Hayley Mistler and Allison Moren, the musical showcased student creativity and collaboration in every way, from the singing and dancing to the detailed costumes to the vibrant set pieces. The cast and crew of more than 100 students performed three shows over two days. The story unfolded in a single act that included 13 songs, during which the captivating sets and spirited performances transported audiences from the Sanfordville cafetorium right to the Hundred Acre Wood!

Winnie the Pooh Kids begins in familiar A.A. Milne territory, with Pooh -- as he often is -- on the search for honey. Along the way, he meets up with the pals we all know and love: Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit and Owl. But where is Christopher Robin?! We soon learn that Christopher has been captured by the mysterious Backson, and as the play unfolds we follow Pooh and his pals on their rescue operation. Along the way, the menagerie of friends learn about teamwork, friendship, and sharing, all three of which happen to match up nicely with the qualities and values outlined in Warwick Valley's own Portrait of a Graduate.

"On behalf of Ms. Moren, the Sanfordville Drama Club and myself, we would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the following individuals for their tireless efforts and support in bringing Winnie the Pooh Kids to the stage," Ms. Mistler said. "The amazing Sanfordville PTA, Sheila Scheuermann, Silvana Young, Amy McVeigh, Sam Sambrano, the CORE Theatre Group, and the SES Art Club. Another big thank you to the group of Warwick Valley High School students who lent a hand with stage management and audio/visual needs. And, of course, very special thanks to all of the parents -- everyone who came out to participate in our building days, everyone who helped chaperone, and every parent who supports the creativity and hard work of their young actors and crew members!"

And if you were one of the many family and friends in last weekend's packed audiences, the cast and crew thank YOU too! Because “a friend is one of the best things you can have, and one of the best things you can be!”

Bravo! to...
