New students and families tour Sanfordville Elementary School

Sanfordville Elementary School opened its doors to warmly welcome new students and their families to the Warwick Valley School District on Friday, Aug. 22. Led by Principal Johnna Maraia and school counselor Gravce Geysen, visitors toured the halls and learned about the many programs and resources Sanfordville has to offer before the official start of the school year on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
"It's a wonderful opportunity for our students that are new to the district to see their new school and feel comfortable before the first-day bell rings," Principal Maraia said.
The hour-long tour included stops in the main office, nursing suite, playground, library, cafeteria and STEM lab.
The next event on the Sanfordville calendar for students and families is the Meet the Teacher Open House and PTA Ice Cream Social from 2-4 p.m. on Aug. 28. Families will be able to visit classrooms, drop off school supplies and meet their teachers ahead of the new school year.
