Park Ave. student council crushes fundraising goal for inaugural Parkinson's Walk

Students take the lead in first lap of PAE Parkinson's Walk 2025

Last Friday night, the Park Avenue Elementary School Student Council hosted its inaugural Walk for Parkinson’s. We are happy to report that the event -- not to mention the council's fundraising outcomes -- were nothing short of incredible.

"Our amazing student council worked hard to spread the word, and it paid off," said Park Ave. Student Council co-advisor Amy Buliung. "We had 97 walkers show up to support the cause, including students, parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. The walk reminded us how many loved ones are impacted by Parkinson’s, and how strong we are when we come together around a cause."

As we've previously reported, the student council had already sailed past its original fundraising goal of $2,500 by nearly 50% prior to the event. By the time the event was over, they had reached more than $7,000! The student council is donating the money to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

The Park Avenue Student Council and its co-advisors, Ms. Buliung and Park Avenue teacher Theresa Canfield, send a heartfelt "thank you, to everyone who walked, donated, or simply cheered us on!"

It was an unforgettable evening on the Park Avenue field, and here is a gallery of images that prove it.
