Watch now... Keeping Score: NFL Wildcard Weekend, produced and presented by WVTV
Since 2023 the student-run Warwick Valley TV has hosted a series of NFL playoff prediction shows in which students and teachers compete as equals, putting their pro football acumen to the test to see who are the better pigskin prognosticators!
Working as part of their team -- either Team Player or Team Teacher -- they make a consensus pick for each game. Correct selections earn a point and incorrect answers receive no points. After the Super Bowl is completed, the points are totaled and our own champion is crowned. With the NFL playoffs about to kick off this weekend, the WVTV series is back with its first of five broadcasts.
This episode is Keeping Score: NFL Wildcard Weekend 2026, and this years teams include the following members:
TEAM PLAYER
- Bobby "BOMO" Mosier (sophomore)
- Anthony "PAESANO" Spinelli (sophomore)
- Danny "TWOPOINTOH" Lupkovich (junior)
TEAM TEACHER
- Ryan "CANDYMAN" Candia (WVHS history department)
- Scott "M-DAWG" Meyer (WVHS history department)
- Ray "BIG DADDY" Mark (WVHS math department)
This year's shows are hosted by WVHS junior Landon "WANNABE" Komorsky, a student enrolled in the high school's Video Production program, part of the district's in-house CTE program.
"Having the opportunity to be the face of a show and talking about my favorite sport is an absolute honor to do," Landon said. "I love that I am able to flip the script on the teachers and give them assignments and work to do, as well as working with my friends on set. I love hosting and it's given me more motivation to do this as a career."
For the teachers, the opportunity to be a part of something outside of their usual role is great way to model behaviors that are embodied in the districts Portrait of a Graduate. Mr. Candia has been involved with WVTV since day one.
"I love collaborating with WVTV," Mr. Candia said. "The experiences keep me connected with students and staff in a 21st century classroom setting. Kids are utilizing skills that provide them hands-on experiences and prepare them for life beyond high school."
For the CTE video production teacher, Dan Cecconie, he is most proud of the number of students who stay after school to be a part of the production.
"When I have over 10 students compete to stay after school to be a part of the fun," he said, "it tells me that we are doing something right!"
