WVHS indoor track and field team members earn All-American honors

Warwick's 1,600-meter mixed relay team at the Nike Nationals.

Athletes from the Warwick Valley High School indoor track and field team were recently named All-Americans by medaling at the Nike Indoor Nationals on March 12-14 at The Armory Track and Field in Manhattan.

Luke Beattie placed second in the pole vault by clearing 16 feet, four inches. The senior now has eight all-American honors and seven state championships heading into the outdoor track and field season.

The 1,600-meter mixed relay team of Logan Conley, Ciara Currid, Beattie and Reagan Smith placed second with a school-record time of 3 minutes, 38.68 seconds.

The top eight finishers in the Championship division at the nationals were named NSAF All-American and received All-American tees and certificates. 

The 800-meter relay team of Isaiah Gonzalez, Conley, Beattie and Tommy Ronan placed fifth with a time of 1:29.25. Gonzalez also placed 10th in the long jump (22-7.5) to earn second-team all-American honors.

Sophomore Leo Shostal placed seventh in the Emerging Elite two mile race in 9:19.60. He is the sixth-ranked sophomore in the country in the event. 

Warwick's girls sprint medley relay team of Courtney Ziegler, Teagan Currid, Ciara Currid and Smith placed 20th in the championship race with a time of 4:19.32.
