Wildcats Winter Sports Update (Jan. 8, 2026)

Boys Indoor Track and Field

The Warwick boys indoor track and field team is off to a record-breaking start to the 2025-2026 season.

The 800-meter relay team of Isaiah Gonzalez, Logan Conley, Luke Beattie and Tommy Ronan ran a school-record time of 1 minutes, 29.68 seconds at the Coach Saint Invitational at the Armory in New York on Dec. 12. The time is the fastest in the state this winter.

Beattie also broke the New York State senior class record with a jump of 17 feet, 1.25 inches in the pole vault. Conley set a school record in the 300 (35.16); the previous record was set in 2014. Ronan set another school record by running 1:08.70 in the 500.

Quenten Liciaga, who is also a starter on the boys basketball team, cleared 6-6 in the high jump to break a school record set in 1985.

Boys Wrestling

Junior Garrett Judd is the newest member of the 100 wins club for the Wildcats. Congratulations.

The Wildcats finished with a 4-1 record at the Warwick Duals, beating Marlboro, Pearl River, Suffern and Tottenville. Judd and Raymond Eger both won all five of their matches.

Girls basketball

Reese Giraldi and Abby Horwitz each scored 14 points to lead the Wildcats over FDR 53-35 at the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament in Kingston. Emily Romig scored 13 points for Warwick.

The Wildcats traveled to Florida in December for the KSA Events Pre Holiday Tournament. Warwick finished with 1-2 record against top teams from Tennessee, Utah and Missouri.

Boys basketball

Quenten Liciaga scored 16 points to power Warwick past Wallkill Valley Regional 56-53 in the championship game of the Ranger Boys Basketball Tournament. Liciaga was named the MVP of the tournament.

Jake Cosco, in photo above,  had 15 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer for the Wildcats (4-3). Warwick returns to the court with a home game against Monticello on Thursday (Jan. 8) on Youth Night. Young players are invited to wear their rec jersey and compete for prizes at halftime.

Boys swimming and diving

Senior Connor Holland finished first in the 100-yard butterfly (56.19 seconds) and 200-yard individual medley (2:04.47) and was also on two winning relay teams to lead the Wildcats to a 126-57 victory over Minisink Valley on Jan. 6. Holland's time in the butterfly broke the school record.

Warwick's divers continue to dominate their competition. The Wildcats have the top six divers in Section 9. Freshman Drew Voloshin is currently ranked first in the state in the 11-dive competition and second in the six-dive competition. Voloshin, Lucas Wensley and Rory Wright finished 1-2-3 against Minisink Valley.

The Wildcats are 7-1 on the season.
