Football
Warwick junior Danny Lupkovich was playing receiver two weeks ago but answered the call to step into the quarterback role throwing four touchdown passes in the Week 0 opener against Susan Wagner of Staten Island on Sept. 5.
Lupkovich completed TD passes to Sean Perez, Jackson Miceli
and Quenten Liciaga (2) to get the Wildcats off to a 1-0 start this fall. Senior
captain Giacomo Abbate led all rushers with 77 yards on 17 carries behind an
offensive line led by junior captain Brayden Harrison and seniors Tom Ronan and captain Kyle Bolich.
The defense was led by senior captain Aaron Callender with nine tackles and sack and
senior cornerback Matt Abel who picked a ball off and ran it back 45 yards to
secure the win. Warwick’s Bolich, Ronan, Jack Gobinski and company kept
pressure on the Wagner QB all night.
Warwick will go on the road Saturday Sept. 13th to take on the Middie
Bears in a non-league contest at Faller Field in Middletown. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.

Girls swimming
Vivian House finished first in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events to lead the Wildcats to a 116-53 home victory over Wallkill on Sept. 5.
Warwick won all three relay events. Other individuals winning events were: Addison Kleveno (50 freestyle), Jillian Shaw (100 butterfly) and Caitlyn Coyle in the 500 freestyle.
Girls soccer
The varsity girls soccer team dropped its first two games, losing 4-1 to Monroe-Woodbury on Sept. 3 and 3-1 to Pine Bush on Sept. 4.
Boys cross country
Sophomore Leo Shostal finished first in the Varsity I race at the Wave Mania Cross Country Invitational at Sanfordville Elementary School on Sept. 6. He covered the 3.09-mile course in 15 minutes, 23 seconds, which was the fastest time of the day.
The Wildcats placed fourth in their 20-team race and had the sixth fastest average time of the 40 teams at the meet. Compete meet results are available at: https://fat.live/meets/55516.
Girls cross country
Senior Madison Olszewski finished in 18th place to pace Warwick to ninth-place finish in the girls Varsity II race at the Wave Mania Cross Country Invitational. She completed the course in 21:20.8 and was closely followed by Julie Schlesinger (21:39.0).

Boys soccer
The Wildcats lost to Kingston 2-0 on Sept. 3 and to Monroe-Woodbury 3-1 on Sept. 2.
Girls Tennis
The Warwick girls varsity tennis team had a successful start to their season, winning twice by the score of 7-0 against Goshen and Cornwall.
Keri Leahey, an eighth grader, took over the No.1 singles position in the lineup this year and won three-set matches against seasoned veterans from Goshen and Cornwall. Fellow eighth graders Piper Stewen and Leah Scalo won both of their matches playing in the No. 2 and No . 3 singles position, respectively. Grace Cornelius (No. 4 singles), Celia Greco and Bianka Grzesik (first doubles), Nina Cirillo and Anika Brezina (second doubles), Hailee Oppmann and Rosalie Mountford (third doubles) all won both of their matches last week.
This week features a home match on Monday against Monticello and an away match on Wednesday against Beacon
Volleyball
The Wildcats opened their season with a pair of losses. Pine Bush defeated Warwick 22-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-20, 15-11 on Sept. 3. Evie Boyle had 17 kills and five aces; Peyton Komorsky had 39 assists, 12 kills and three aces; and Victoria Martinez had 21 assists and nine digs.
In a 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 25-16 loss to Valley Central, Boyle had 18 kills and 14 digs; Komorsky had 22 assists, 15 kills and three aces; and Savannah Martino had 5 kills.
