Warwick girls lacrosse summer camp opens [gallery]

The Warwick Girls Lacrosse Summer Camp opened on Monday with about 30 girls entering grades in 1-7 learning skills from Warwick Valley High School girls lacrosse coaches, players and alumni at Sanfordville Elementary School.

Warwick girls lacrosse coach Denis O'Connor told the campers that they would be working with players from the best team in Warwick girls lacrosse history. The 2026 team won the Section 9 Class B championship, and some of the players were wearing their Section 9 Championship shirts.

Coach O'Connor also told the girls that the two biggest goals of the camp were to have fun and to be safe.

The campers split into four groups based on their grades and rotated through different stations to improve their individual ball skills and lacrosse-specific fitness.

The girls lacrosse camp is the first of seven offered by the Warwick Valley Athletic Department. On tap for next week are boys lacrosse and baseball camps. Stay tuned for more updates as our summer sports camps continue. Go Wildcats.
