Warwick boys indoor track and field wins Section 9 Class A championship

Congratulations to the Warwick boys indoor track and field team for winning the Section 9 Class A championship on Jan. 31 at West Point.
After finishing in ninth last year, the Wildcats turned things around to capture their first Section 9 indoor title since 2017. Warwick finished first with 85 points; Newburgh Free Academy was second with 74 points.
Luke Beattie led the scoring, taking first place in the 55-meter dash (6.45 seconds) and the pole vault (17 feet, four inches).
Leo Shostal placed first in the 3,200 (9:40.33) and fourth in the 1,600 (4:36.59). Isaiah Gonzalez won the long jump (22-3 3/4). Quenten Liciaga took second in the high jump (6-4), and Klaus Lindenau was second in the pole vault (13-0).
