Warwick boys indoor track and field wins OCIAA Division 2 championship

Congratulations to the Warwick Valley Wildcats boys indoor track and field team for winning the OCIAA Division 2 championship on Jan. 26 at West Point!

The Wildcats finished first with 116 points; Goshen was second with 80 points.

Luke Beattie set a school record in winning the 55-meter dash in 6.4 seconds, which is the fourth-fasted time recorded in the state this season. He also finished first in the 300 meters (35.10).

Quenten Liciaga set a school record of six feet, nine inches, in the high jump, which is the third-best in the state. He also took third  in the long jump (21-0).

In the pole vault, Warwick's Klaus Lendeau and Carter Griffin placed first and second. Both cleared 13-0.

Leo Shostal finished second in both the 1,000 (2:42.96) and 1,600 (4:35.89). Aaron Callender placed second in the triple jump (43-0).

And don't forget, Wildcat fans! Warwick Valley will be competing in the Section IX Class A Championship meet this Saturday, January 31, also at West Point.
