Victoria Alvarado places second at NYS girls wrestling championships

Congratulations to Warwick junior Victoria Alvarado for taking home a silver medal at the New York Public High School Athletic Association Girls Wrestling Championship at Albany's MVP Arena!
Victoria, who won a state title last year, pinned her first opponent and then won the next two matches by technical fall to advance to the finals at 145 pounds. Delaney Dixon of Windsor High School, who finished the season unbeaten, pinned Victoria about three minutes into the final match.
Victoria missed most of the wrestling season recovering from an injury. She entered the state tournament with a 5-0 record, with all of the victories by first-period pins.
Victoria had previously won the Section IX title. Join us in congratulating her on these outstanding achievements!
