Wildcats Spring Sports Update (April 11, 2025)
GIRLS LACROSSE
Kaitlyn Larney scored her 100th career goal in a 16-8 loss to Niskayuna on April 5. She had a total of four goals in the non-league game..
Kaitlyn joins her older sister Kiera in the 100-goal club and will be playing with Kiera next year at the University of Vermont. Kaitlyn has 15 goals and four assists in four games so far this season.
Kelsey Larney, younger sister of Kaitlyn and Kiera, scored four goals to power Warwick past Goshen 15-10 on April 2. Kaitlyn Larney and Keira Ginley each had three goals for the Wildcats. Laci Annuziato made nine saves.
Despite three goals each from Kelsey Larney and Kaitlyn Larney, the Wildcats lost to Kingston 11-10 on April 1. Keira Ginley and Sophia Matia each scored two goals.
The Wildcats started their season with an 11-10 overtime victory over Highland on March 26. Kaitlyn Larney led with way with five goals and Kelsey Larney added two goals.
BOYS LACROSSE
Warwick's boys lacrosse team, the six-time defending Section 9 Class B champions, started off their 2025 season with three straight wins, outscoring their opponents by a 50-15 margin.
Darren Vogt led the way in a 17-4 victory over Suffern on April 8 with three goals and five assists. Ryan Sullivan scored four goals and had one assist. Joey Finn contributed three goals and one assist.
Finn's six goals and one assist powered with Wildcats past Scarsdale 13-5 on April 5. Ryan Sullivan and Dylan Sullivan each had three goals and three assists. Christian Perron made 11 saves.
In a season-opening 20-6 victory over Red Hook on April 1, Dylan Sullivan, Ryan Sullivan, Kevin Ginley and Jason Senior each scored three goals for the Wildcats. Aidan Corbalis, Joey Finn and Henry Wright each had two goals for Warwick.
SOFTBALL
Etta Garofalo had three hits, including a double, but the Wildcats lost to Monroe-Woodbury 6-2 on April 9. One of Eva Garofalo's two hits was a solo home run. Rylee Moore had a double and a single for Warwick.
Etta Garofalo, Emily Romig and Rylee Moore all had two singles and an RBI in an 8-6 loss to Newburgh Free Academy on April 2. The Wildcats opened their season with a 20-0 five-inning victory over Beacon. Camryn Moore and Rylee Moore each had three hits and three RBI.
BASEBALL
Winning pitcher Garrett Srednicki struck out 12 batters and allowed just one earned run in a 4-2 victory over Washingtonville on April 10. Ryan Yioupis hit a triple and drove in two runs for the Wildcats (1-3). Cole Haskew pitched the seventh inning to pick up the save.
Pitcher Tom Ranaudo fanned eight batters in four innings in an 8-3 loss to Wallkill on April 9. Garrison Sobo doubled and Cole Haskew struck out three batters over two innings in a 13-5 loss to Pine Bush on April 2. The Wildcats opened the season with a 6-0 loss to Ramapo on March 31.
FLAG FOOTBALL
Warwick's flag football team dropped two games this week, losing to Pine Bush 42-13 and to Minisink Valley 25-0. The Wildcats are 1-5 on the season.
Senior runnig back Carmela Rufano, shown above, leads Warwick with 110 rushing yards and also has 43 receiving yards. Junior quarterback Kasandra Lashuay has thrown for 256 yards and one touchdown and also carried the ball for 75 yards.
Sophomore receiver and cornerback Ava Jones leads the defense with 24 tackles and has also scored two touchdowns. Junior Lily Corcoran leads in receiving with 121 yards, including a touchdown, and is second on the team in tackles with 16.
Warwick's victory came against Washingtonville 12-6 when quarterback Alyssa Sarlo connected with Lily Corcoran for a late touchdown.
BOYS TENNIS
The Wildcats opened their season with non-league victories over Monroe-Woodbury and Liberty before losing to Goshen 6-1 on April 2. In a 5-2 victory over Monroe-Woodbury on March 27, Denis McAteer and Evan Grundfast each won tiebreakers in their singles matches.
