Eight Wildcats sign their national letters of intent for collegiate competition

It was a great day in Wildcat Country, as eight senior athletes signed their National Letters of Intent to study and compete at the collegiate level! 

The eight Wildcats were honored during a signing ceremony in the Warwick Valley High School auditorium on May 6. The ceremony was emceed by WV athletic director Gregory Sirico. Coaches, including Christy Bryan-Davis (cheer), Kirk Thomas (track & field), and Denis O'Connor (lacrosse), also attended and spoke to the talents, dedication, and resilience of their student-athletes. 

Warwick Valley superintendent of schools Dr. David Leach, WVHS principal Dr. Georgianna Diopoulos, and WVHS director of guidance Mary Fox attended, as did many of the athletes' friends and family members.

Join us in congratulating these eight Wildcats on their achievements and wishing them luck for their bright futures!         


Erin Kelly, Lacrosse/Soccer

Erin signed her NLI to attend Molloy University (Rockville Center, NY). She was recruited to play midfield for the NCAA Division II Lions women's lacrosse team in the East Coast Conference. Molloy competes against Mercy, St. Thomas Aquinas, D’Youville, and Robert Wesleyan. Erin was recruited to Molloy by Emily Pepe, head women's lacrosse coach. She was also recruited by Widener, Scranton and Susquehanna. Erin plans to major in nursing.

Career Highlights
- 3-year varsity lacrosse player; 2026 team captain 
- Scored over 50 goals as a midfielder for the 3 Section IX Finalist
- Section IX Final Four Appearance; Selected All-County and All-Section as a defender for the girls soccer team

Academic Accomplishments
- National Honor Society; Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society
- US Army Academic All- American (102+ GPA)
- Overall GPA: 101.29 (top 10% of class)


Reagan Smith, Track & Field

Reagan signed her NLI to attend the University of Rhode Island (Kingston, RI). She was was recruited by Laurie Feit, head women's track and field coach, to run mid-distance (long sprinter 400-800m) for the NCAA Division I Rams of the Atlantic 10 Conference. Rhode Island competes against Fordham University, Davidson, Richmond, and George Washington. Reagan was also scouted by Lehigh University, Providence, and JMU. Reagan plans to major in civil engineering.

Career Highlights
- 2-year Track & Field Captain (Indoor and Outdoor)
- Indoor Track & Field All-American in mixed 4x400 Meter (w/ Ciara Currid, Luke Beattie, and Logan Conley)
- State Indoor medalist 4x400 (6th at NYSPHSAA Championships)
- School record holder in 4x100 Meter, 4x200 Meter, and mixed 4x400 Meter (Race Walk school record)

Maiya Cardine, Cheerleader

Maiya signed her NLI to attend The University at Albany (Albany, NY). Albany competes at the NCAA Division I level in the UCA America East Conference for both Cheerleading and Football. Other member schools include Sacred Heart, Vermont, Umass Lowell, and the University of New Hampshire. Maiya was recruited by Albany's head cheerleading coach, Adam Forte as a backspot. Maiya plans to study business and cconomics.   

Career Highlights
- 3-year varsity cheer team; 2026 Section IX Champion
- 4-time All-American nominee NCA
- NCA Top Gun stunt nominee 
- NCA National Cheer place finisher 2026

Amiya Chatman, Cheerleader

Amiya signed her NLI to attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (Charlotte, NC). The UNC 49ers compete in the American Conference at the NCAA Division I level against other member schools, including Citadel, East Carolina, Towson, and UAB. Amiya was recruited by head cheer coach Amy Vetter as a base. She was also scouted by Towson, East Carolina, and Delaware. Amiya plans to major in nursing.

- 2-time NCA Cheer All-American
- Finished 1st at NCA Cheer Nationals; 2026 Section IX Champions

Janiya Chatman, Cheerleader/Track & Field

Janiya also signed her NLI to attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (Charlotte, NC). Janiya  was recruited by head cheer coach Amy Vetter to compete as a base, and was also scouted by Towson, East Carolina, and Delaware. Janiya plans to major in nursing.

Lillian Rother, Cheerleader/Track & Field

Lilian signed her NLI to attend Hofstra University (Hempstead, NY). The Hofstra Lions compete at the NCAA Division I level in the Coastal Athletic Association in UCA Cheer. Other member schools include Delaware, Charleston, Monmouth, and Stony Brook. Lillian was recruited by head coach Christine Farina as a main and side base, and was also scouted by Clarkson and the University of Buffalo. Lillian plans to major in civil engineering.

- 3-time All-American candidate 
- Section IX 2026 Competition Cheer Champs, Large Team
- 1st st place NCA Nationals 2026, Large Traditional

Riley Seijas, Crew

Riley signed her NLI to attend Bucknell University (Lewisburg, PA) and compete on its crew team. Bucknell University is in the Patriot League at the NCAA Division I level, and competes against other member schools including Lehigh, Lafayette, Colgate, and Loyola MD. Riley was recruited by head crew coach Katy Ruderman to compete as a short and distance rower. She plans to major in biology.

Career Highlights
- Finished 2nd NYSHSC Championships (Straight 4) for 1600 M
- Finished 2nd in the NYSHSC in the Pair Championships for 1600 M 
- 4-year crew team member
- 3rd at Indoor Championships, Individual 2000 M

Leila Morris, Crew

Leila signed her NLI to attend the University of Delaware (Newark, DE) to compete on its crew team. Delaware competes in the Mid-American Conference at the NCAA Division I level against other member schools including Eastern Michigan, Toledo, and U Mass. Leila was recruited by head crew coach Asiya Mahmud to compete as a short and distance rower. She plans to major in criminal justice.

Career Highlights
- Won the 2024 and 2025 Head of the Charles Regatta, PR3 Double 
- 5-year US Rowing National competitor (Sarasota, FL)
- Mid- Atlantic Champion, U17 Single
