Physics students & club members attend Physics Day at Six Flags Great Adventure

June 6, 2019

WVHS Physics students and club members attended Physics Day at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ on May 22.

Students were able to see and feel the principles of physics and take their knowledge from the classroom and apply it to the outside world.

This program is an outstanding resource for educators to share with their students. It provides students with the unique opportunity to provide first-hand experience for many of the concepts that are taught in the typical Physics I course.

Students timed portions of rides to complete lab work and analysis questions, and also experienced aspects of acceleration, rotational motion, conservation of energy, and forces – big and small – that are simply impossible to demonstrate in the classroom environment.

While the day at the park is a ‘fun’ activity, it is also a day of hands-on learning and practical application of the topics students have worked throughout the year to master.
